The boys of Degrassi
|
Marco's the super-nice-guy-that-everybody-likes,
with the fashionable fashions and the soul patch dealie. After a long personal struggle, he came out to most of his friends
a while back, and he's seriously dating Paige's older brother, Dylan. But Marco's terrified of his father finding out he's
gay, so the secret's still limited to his mom and a small circle of friends (including, of course, his bandmates Spinner,
Jimmy, Craig, and Ashley).

One of the consistently popular guys at school,
the type who, once he decided you were a good person, would be a real, true friend. He even eventually got along with Rick,
once Jimmy realized that Rick was trying to be a good person. Jimmy had been dating Hazel, playing in Craig's band, and looking
for a basketball future. Then his life instantly changed. Rick, believing that Jimmy had betrayed him and humiliated him,
came to school with a gun and shot him in the back. Jimmy survived, but he's in the hospital, and no one knows his condition.

The guy at Degrassi everybody's scared of,
and he likes it that way. Jay hates and steals and steals and hates, pretty much. He sees some of himself in Sean, so they
run together. Jay planned out the public embarrassment of Rick, and then convinced Rick that Jimmy did it. Rick shot Jimmy.
Now Jay's more worried about getting caught than he is about Jimmy surviving.

Toby would proudly call himself a computer
geek. He'd been J.T.'s best friend, but that relationship stretched kind of thin when J.T. started hanging out with Paige's
crowd, and then it stretched even thinner when Toby became friends with Rick. After Rick turned violent and shot Jimmy, Toby
first denied their friendship ever existed, and then had to find the bravery to feel sympathy for the most hated guy ever
at Degrassi.

Spinner went through the bully phase, the angry-tough-guy
phase, and the "I wuv you honeybee" phase with Paige. Then she wrecked his car, and he went through the "do whatever I say"
phase, until Paige went through the dumping-Spinner phase, and Spinner went back into the bully phase. Pretty soon, he hit
the alienating-his-best-friend-Jimmy phase. When he teamed up with Jay to humiliate Rick and then pin the blame on Jimmy,
he never expected Jimmy to end up in the hospital with a bullet in his back. Now Spinner's entered the confused, sad, and
scared phase.

Sean came to Degrassi as Mr. Take-No-Feces
who'd been suspended for fighting. Then he went a long way to proving that there's more to him, showing Emma that he's smart
and sensitive, and embarking on a long relationship with her. Then he bought a knit hat and tank top and flushed that all
away, falling in with Jay and becoming a thieving thug. But then he proved that there's more to him again by pulling his act
together enough to live on his own, atoning for his crimes, and falling into a healthy relationship with Ellie. When Rick
literally took aim at Emma, Sean put his life on the line. Rick wound up dead, and when Sean finally came to grips with what
happened, he decided the best place to be was with his parents, away from Degrassi.

Clever, funny, smarty-arty Craig used to be
known as the guy with the abusive father who died. Now he's the guy that cheated on multiple girls at once. He botched his
relationship with his soulmate Ashley by cheating on her with Manny, then lied about it to both, then made up with Ash. Now
he spends most of his time playing his guitar (in a band with Jimmy, Marco, Spinner, and Ashley). When Jimmy was shot at school
by Rick, Craig found him lying on the floor, and the horror stuck with him.

J.T. went from the geeky, kind of likable class
clown to the hot, definitely likable class clown who hangs with the cool kids. He even grew up enough that he finally convinced
Manny to go out with him. (The shaggy hair helped some, too.) J.T. turned his back on his best friend Toby twice, and he usually
needs reminding what it means to be a friend.
